USDA Research Scientist, rusts of wheat and barley

The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Cereal Disease Research Unit in St. Paul, Minnesota, is seeking a Research Scientist (Molecular Biologist/Plant Pathologist/Geneticist), GS-12 (Announcement Number ARS-X9W-0266), salary range $71,473.00 to $92,911.00. The scientist will conduct research to address a range of research issues associated with rust diseases of wheat and barley and their mitigation. The incumbent will conduct research on host resistance, pathogen biology, and genetics pertaining to the interaction between Ug99 stem rust and its cereal host. The incumbent is expected to identify and characterize interactions between cereal rust pathogens and their hosts using modern tools such as genomics, functional proteomics, or metabolomics. The incumbent is expected to publish research results in peer-reviewed journals and to give research presentations at national and international scientific meetings and conferences.
