Graduate Student Position in Mycology I am currently accepting applications for a MSc student to study ascomycete systematics beginning in September, 2015. Candidates should have a BSc in an appropriate biological science (e.g., biology, botany, microbiology, or plant pathology), field and/or laboratory experience in mycology, an appropriate cumulative GPA and/or TOFEL score, and strong spoken and written English language skills. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in the cultivation and characterization of fungi, training in phylogenetic analysis, and a strong interest in systematics and revisionary taxonomy. Postdoctoral Position in Phylogenomics of Zygomycetous Fungi Postdoctoral position available in the laboratory of Dr. Joey Spatafora at Oregon State University, Department of Botany and Plant Pathology. This position is part of the NSF-funded, multi-institutional ZyGoLife project. Fungi historically classified as zygomycetes occupy an unresolved part of the Fungal Tree of Life and traditional molecular systematic studies have failed to resolve their evolutionary relationships. ZyGoLife will employ whole genome sequencing and phylogenomic analyses to resolve the genealogy of zygomycetous fungi, incorporate fossil data to calibrate the ZyGoLife tree to geologic time, and identify genomic traits associated with morphology and ecological innovations.
