Washington State University, Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center, Wenatchee WA https://www.wsujobs.com/postings/17404 Research Intern, WSU TFREC, Wenatchee, WA (Administrative Professional, FT, and Temporary). The suitable candidate will perform professional-level work in support of the research activities in the field and laboratory, which are directed towards developing both pre-harvest and post-harvest methods for the control of specific apple and pear postharvest pathogens. Position responsibilities include but are not limited to: conducting field experiments located at multiple sites across Washington State, assisting in demonstration of control methods on field days, disease evaluation through standard culture based methods and preferably data analysis. The candidate must have minimum Bachelor of Science related to plant science and plant pathology related topics and a valid unrestricted driver’s license. Candidates with experience in pathogens affecting tree fruit production and/or orchard system, experience conducting field trials and isolating and maintaining fungal cultures, and experience with molecular techniques such as DNA isolation or the conduction of PCR will be preferred.
