Tenure-track Faculty Position in Structural Biology Microbiology and Cell Science Department Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) University of Florida Gainesville, FL, USA This is a 12-month tenure-accruing Assistant/Associate Professor position that will be 25% teaching (College of Agricultural and Life Sciences), 55% research (Florida Agricultural Experiment Station) and 20% service to the Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research (ICBR). Duties will include the development of externally funded research in structural biology, teach a course called “Eukaryotic Cell Structure and Function” every spring semester, mentor and train graduate students. Duties also include serving as the faculty director of the Electron Microscopy Core for ICBR, and actively engaging the Center’s program of science development and support. The faculty member will participate actively in undergraduate education and graduate education and seek contract and grant funding actively to support his/her research program. Because of the IFAS land-grant mission, all faculty are expected to be supportive of and engaged in all three mission areas—Research, Teaching and Extension—regardless of the assignment split specified in the position description. Qualifications A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Structural Biology, Cell Biology, Microbiology, or a closely related discipline is required. Postdoctoral experience is desirable. Candidates should have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationships, laboratory leadership and procurement of extramural funding. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system. Candidates must also have a commitment to IFAS and ICBR core values of excellence, diversity, global involvement, and accountability.
