Scientist–Mycology at the American Type Culture Collection

ATCC is a private, nonprofit biological resource center (BRC) and research organization whose mission focuses on the acquisition, authentication, production, preservation, development and distribution of standard reference microorganisms, cell lines and other materials for research in the life sciences. We are currently seeking a qualified Scientist - Mycology with the following experience and credentials.
Doctoral degree in Microbiology and Immunology, Medical Mycology or closely related field required, with up to 5 years post graduate experience. Ph.D. level scientist in mycology is needed in support of the NIAID BEI Resources program. Research program areas of interest should have an emphasis on fungal or yeast pathogens of relevance to human health including, for example, Histoplasma, Cryptococcus, Coccidioides, Candida, Aspergillus, Blastomyces, Encephalitozoon, or Sporothrix spp. Responsibilities include enhancing diversity of collections holdings, development of assays for authentication of target organisms, and development of novel reagents supporting NIAID and ATCC initiatives. Candidates are expected to possess strong molecular skills and be experienced with culture of fungal pathogens. Candidates with supervisory experience, hands-on experience for multiple pathogens and initiative to work in biocontainment up to BSL3+ are especially encouraged to apply.
