MSA Business

The Mycological Society of America is run by its members, with management services provided by Allen Press. Members can manage their subscriptions and member profiles, order back issues of Mycologia, and search the MSA member directory through the Allen Press website.

MSA Officers and Roster

Officers of the MSA are elected by our members. In 2007-8, our President is Dr. Don Hemmes, our President-Elect is Dr. Roy Halling, and our Vice-President is Dr. Rytas Vilgalys. Our Secretary is Dr. Cathie Aime, and Dr. Sabine Huhndorf is Treasurer. Please consult the full listings below for current and past elected officers and their contact information. The Roster includes elected officers plus all other MSA appointments.

Editors of MSA Publications

The MSA’s flagship publication is the scholarly journal Mycologia. Members also receive the MSA newsletter, Inoculum, which is published bimonthly in electronic form. The MSA website is MSAfungi.org.

The MSA Constitution and Bylaws

The MSA was founded in 1937, and operates under a set of principles outlined in our constitution and bylaws. This document addresses our mission, composition, leadership structure, and operational policies.

MSA Manual of Operations

The MSA Manual of Operations details the responsibilities of officers, councilors, committee chairs, and other representatives of the Mycological Society of America. Because specific responsibilities are not detailed in the Bylaws of the Society, current procedures are outlined for each position. This manual should be viewed as a guideline to be constantly updated, modified, and improved. Please direct suggestions about changes or additional material that should be included to the Secretary and the President-Elect, both of whom are responsible for updating the manual.
