
Danny Haelewaters
Danny Haelewaters (PhD 2018, Harvard University) is a mycologist who recently started the Laboratory of Fungal Ecology and Evolution (LFEE) at the Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Institute of Entomology, in Ceske Budejovice, Czechia. He also teaches several courses at Ghent University. He is mainly interested in biodiversity monitoring, taxonomy, macroecology, and conservation. The Martin-Baker Research Award will allow him to start a project involving citizen scientists in the screening of preserved insects for the presence of Laboulbzniales microfungi.

The purpose of the Society is to promote and advance the science of mycology and to foster and encourage research and education in mycology in all its aspects. Members of the MSA meet annually to exchange information and build understanding of fungi
