EEB Associate Professor Search - Announcement Field Botany/Herbarium Director The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks to fill a tenure-track position in Field Botany at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Teaching duties may include an undergraduate field botany course each year and a graduate course in the applicant’s area of specialty every other year. A major responsibility of this position is supervision and further development of the superb UT herbarium facility (http://tenn.bio.utk.edu/). Successful applicants will have a doctoral degree in a relevant area, experience in herbarium curation, and demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate broadly in research and teaching. Postdoctoral Positions: Microbial Ecology, Symbiosis, and Drug Discovery. Two post-doctoral positions available at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the laboratory of Dr. Cameron Currie. We are currently studying the role of small molecules in mediating symbiotic associations and the potential application of these compounds as drug leads. Drug Discovery and Bioinformatics – One position will focus on using next-generation sequencing technology and bioinformatics to help discover novel natural products. Specifically, the applicant will be expected to help facilitate the discovery of novel compounds through more rapid identification of strains with high secondary metabolite potential and explore the evolution of secondary metabolite biosynthesis across symbiotic microbes.
