Postdoctoral Position in Phylogenomics of Zygomycetous Fungi Postdoctoral position available in the laboratory of Dr. Joey Spatafora at Oregon State University, Department of Botany and Plant Pathology. This position is part of the NSF-funded, multi-institutional ZyGoLife project. Fungi historically classified as zygomycetes occupy an unresolved part of the Fungal Tree of Life and traditional molecular systematic studies have failed to resolve their evolutionary relationships. ZyGoLife will employ whole genome sequencing and phylogenomic analyses to resolve the genealogy of zygomycetous fungi, incorporate fossil data to calibrate the ZyGoLife tree to geologic time, and identify genomic traits associated with morphology and ecological innovations. Candidates must have a Ph.D. with experience in mycology, fungal genomics or related field. In addition, good communication skills are essential to the project. Funding for up to three years, pending adequate progress. Position will become available January 1, 2015, but starting date is negotiable. Please submit a current C.V., letter of introduction and contact information for three references to Prof. Joey Spatafora, joseph.spatafora@oregonstate.edu.
