Along with the outstanding educational experience that awaits you at the MSA Conference, please note there are two activities that are being held before the official start of the conference. One is the 2017 MSA Foray, which will take part at Unicoi State Park in Helen, Georgia, which is in the beautiful Appalachians and about a 75 minute drive from Athens.
Attendees will walk a 3-mile trail (one-way and downhill) to the Bavarian alpine village of Helen (https://goo.gl/maps/swBPDKWE9XR2) and (http://www.unicoilodge.com/ga-state-park/)
There is a $35 per person fee to participate, which covers the bus transportation, a box lunch, and lots of bottled water (because it is normally quite warm in Georgia in mid-July). The bus will load at the Classic Center on Sunday, July 16th at 8 am and will return around 3 pm. The MSA Foray has a limit of 100 participants.
There will also be an opportunity to participate in an all-day Zygomycete Fungi Workshop on Saturday, July 15th. The Zygomycete Workshop will begin at 9 am at the Classic Center and should conclude by 4 pm. Sponsored by the ZyGoLife research team, we will demonstrate laboratory techniques for observation and isolation of fungi from Mucoromycota and Zoopagomycota in teaching and research. A handbook will be provided. There is a $15 charge to participate in this workshop, to defray the cost of the box lunch and meeting expenses. There is maximum enrollment limit of 24 attendees. For more information on the workshop contact Joey Spatafora, firstname.lastname@example.org.
All requests for cancellations and refunds must be made in writing and emailed to MSA@allenpress.com on or prior to July 1, 2017. There is a $75 processing fee for all cancellations. We reserve the right to substitute speakers, or cancel or reschedule sessions because of low enrollment or other circumstances. If meeting must be cancelled in its entirety due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, MSA may refund the appropriate registration fees to meeting registrants; no refunds shall be made for travel expenses related to the conference. Registrants who purchase non-refundable airline tickets do so at their own risk.
Refunds In Case of Travel VISA Problems
If an attendee is unable to attend the annual meeting due to his/her inability to acquire a travel visa, a partial refund (amount paid minus a $75 processing charge) may be granted. Individuals seeking a refund shall submit the request in writing to the MSA Business Office prior to July 1, 2017.
