Allison Walker is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology, Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada. Allison serves as Director of the E.C. Smith Herbarium at Acadia and is an inaugural member of the Canadian Fungal Research Network. In 2019 she founded a regional student mycology research conference for the Canadian Maritimes, and she and her students are active in organizing fungal forays in Nova Scotia, where she serves as Vice-President of the Nova Scotia Mycological Society.
Allison’s research focuses on the biodiversity and systematics of fungi in marine and coastal ecosystems.
Allison has served as MSA Student Awards Committee member (2015-2019, Chair in 2019) and is an Associate Editor for Mycologia (2016-present). She organized Marine Fungi Symposia at the IMC11/MSA 2018 Puerto Rico and MSA 2019 Minneapolis meetings.

The purpose of the Society is to promote and advance the science of mycology and to foster and encourage research and education in mycology in all its aspects. Members of the MSA meet annually to exchange information and build understanding of fungi
