The Latin American Chapter of the Mycological Society of America (MSA) was established in 2025 to strengthen the representation, collaboration, and visibility of the mycological community in Latin America within the MSA. The Chapter promotes research, education, outreach, and inclusivity across the region, fostering connections among MSA members in Latin America and with the global mycological community.
The Chapter’s purpose is to enhance communication and cooperation among researchers, encourage participation in MSA Annual Meetings and regional Latin American mycological congresses, and serve as a liaison between the MSA, the Latin American Association for Mycology (ALM), and other national and regional societies. The Chapter also supports the development of early-career networks through student and postdoctoral exchanges, mentorship, and training opportunities.
Membership in the Latin American Chapter is automatically granted to all MSA members whose primary residence is in Latin America (Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean). The only pathway to Chapter membership is through MSA membership.
