Senior Research Scholar — Mycology, Dept. Botany & Plant Pathology, Purdue University

The Mycology Lab at Purdue University, Department of Botany and Plant Pathology in West Lafayette, Indiana has an opening for a temporary full-time Senior Research Scholar of mycology for 2022-2024. 

Duties Include:

  1. Teaching BTNY208, The Microbial World
  2. Managing a diverse laboratory of graduate students, undergraduate students, post docs, and technicians
  3. Conducting systematic studies on fungal group(s) of interest
  4. Managing a diverse portfolio of federally funded projects. 

Applicant Requirements:

The successful applicant should: 

  1. Hold a PhD in mycology or related discipline and have postdoctoral training in fungal genetics and/or genomics.
  2. Familiarity with aseptic culture techniques, routine molecular laboratory procedures, and comparative genomics is required
  3. Experience in teaching introductory microbiology/mycology is preferred. 

The successful applicant will work closely with the lab PI, but will be responsible for management of routine lab, herbarium, and funded projects as required for the two-year period. The successful applicant must be able to work in a collaborative team-oriented environment, as well as the ability to work unsupervised in order to complete projects in a timely manner.  Purdue University offers competitive salaries, commensurate with experience, and a full benefit package.
