Technician or Graduate Student, Study Frogeye Leaf Spot of Soybean at Purdue University
A technician position is available in the Soybean Pathology Lab in the Crop Production and Pest Control Unit, USDA Agricultural Research Service (https://www.ars.usda.gov/midwest-area/west-lafayette-in/crop-production-and-pest-control-research/). The laboratory is located on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The position will be filled through Department of Energy ORISE program (https://orise.orau.gov/) so there is no citizenship requirement.
If the candidate is interested in obtaining a graduate degree while on the job, we are open to discussion and try to find a way to accommodate it.
Requirements:
A bachelor degree or higher. Training in Mycology with experience in plant inoculation, or training in Plant Pathology with experience in fungal or oomycetes pathogens. Grasp basic molecular techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR and electrophoresis etc. We are looking for a candidate with curiosity in exploring and good organization skills. We will provide training if needed.
The employment will be one year and can be renewed annually up to four years based on available funding and job performance.
